Investigation into a member of staff hit by a train at Kennington junction, near Oxford, on 23 May 2008

The RAIB is carrying out an investigation into an accident in which a signal technician was struck and seriously injured by a train at Kennington junction, near Oxford.

At about 21:47 hrs, train 1D73, the 20:51 hrs service from Paddington to Oxford, struck a signal technician who was working close to the track between Radley and Oxford.  The technician had been undertaking routine inspection of points at Kennington junction. 

The RAIB's investigation into the accident is independent of any investigations by the safety authority.

The RAIB will publish a report, including any recommendations to improve safety, at the conclusion of its investigation.  This report will be available on the RAIB website.
