The Rail Accident Investigation Branch (RAIB) is the independent railway accident investigation organisation for the UK. It investigates railway accidents and incidents on the UK's railways to improve safety, not to establish blame.
This website forms the RAIB's primary channel for sharing the findings from its investigations, as well as providing the railway industry and general public with a means of finding out about the RAIB.
On 11 August 2014, electrical arcing and a fire occurred on a metro train while standing at Walkergate station, Newcastle upon Tyne.
Were you on the train? If so, the RAIB is keen to hear from you as part of its independent safety investigation.
